Head Chef – African/Nigerian Cuisine

Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef specializing in African and Nigerian cuisine to lead the culinary team at Dollypartydelightevent Ltd. The ideal candidate will bring authentic flavors, innovative presentation, and expert knowledge of traditional and modern Nigerian dishes. You will be responsible for managing the kitchen, creating exceptional menus, and ensuring the highest quality standards in food preparation and service.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Menu Development and Execution:
• Design and create authentic Nigerian dishes such as jollof rice, egusi soup, pounded yam, suya, and akara.
• Incorporate contemporary techniques to elevate traditional African recipes.
• Regularly update menus to reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences.
2. Kitchen Management:
• Supervise, train, and motivate kitchen staff to deliver high-quality dishes.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
• Oversee stock levels and inventory to minimize waste and ensure efficient operations.
3. Quality Control:
• Ensure all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and authenticity.
• Monitor portion sizes, garnishing, and plate presentation.
• Conduct regular quality checks and resolve any issues promptly.
4. Collaboration and Leadership:
• Work closely with management to plan special events, promotions, and themed menus.
• Lead by example and foster a positive, inclusive, and professional work environment.
• Recruit and train team members, ensuring they understand African/Nigerian cuisine and cooking techniques.
5. Cost Management:
• Monitor food costs and optimize kitchen expenses without compromising quality.
• Negotiate with suppliers for fresh, authentic, and cost-effective ingredients.

Key Skills and Qualifications:
• Proven experience as a Head Chef or Senior Chef specializing in African or Nigerian cuisine.
• Expertise in preparing a wide range of Nigerian dishes (both traditional and modern).
• Strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safety regulations, and allergen management.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Creative flair and attention to detail.

Desirable:
• Culinary certifications or formal training in African or Nigerian cuisine.
• Experience working in high-volume restaurants or catering services.
• Familiarity with other African cuisines to complement the menu.
